Sam Leak plays in and organises Jazz groups of different sizes from solo piano performance to sextets and larger groups. His main project is his Quintet featuring Joshua Blackmore, Calum Gourlay, Freddie Gavita and Duncan Eagles, which performs original work alongside the work of familiar Jazz artists including Keith Jarrett, Kenny Wheeler and Wayne Shorter. He is also part of the bluesy Jazz standards group ‘The Dan Redding Quartet,’ and ‘The Bukky Leo Quartet’. Sam performs in duos and trios in various line-ups (duos would usually be piano and guitar or piano and bass). As well as performing contemporary Jazz he can also provide funkier or bluesier or more old fashioned line-ups to suit any occasion. He can provide both ‘foreground’ and ‘background’ music as the performance situation demands.
Sam Leak performs regularly at venues such as The Bulls Head in Barnes, Jazz After Dark, The Progress Bar, The Rising Sun, The Ram Jam Club and The National Portrait Gallery. He also plays for weddings, private and corporate functions.
