Thames Valley Jazz embraces musicians who play or have played fully professionally with bands as renowned as the legendary 'Ken Colyer Jazzmen' and Acker Bilk. The band has played for the Lord Mayor of London and at various legal profession events at Lincoln's Inn and recently were complimented by the Lord Chief Justice at a Fulham Palace performance as having played the best jazz he had heard in the past forty years! Thames Valley Jazz handles a wide range of bookings and the quality, sensitivity and appeal of its traditional (New Orleans) jazz makes it ideal for all age groups and a variety of functions, particularly where dancing is involved or a performance function is required. The full line-up is a six-piece, but the band frequently performs as a five-piece or quartet depending on clients' requirements. Jack Sinclair has played on the bill on various occasions alongside the professional bands of Chris Barber, Acker Bilk and Kenny Ball. His idol and mentor Monty Sunshine, famous clarinettist at that time with the Chris Barber Jazz band, gave Jack the clarinet which he had used to record his revered golden disc 'Petite Fleur'. This has proved to be a fascination for Jack's audiences over many years, and significantly Jack is renowned for his unique and powerful clarinet tone. |
