The Footnotes
The Footnotes
Established over two decades ago
The Footnotes specialize in playing music for dancing, and the band was formed in 1983. The current team of three has been playing together regularly for fifteen years, and keeping a full diary from repeat bookings and recommendations.

The Band has a panel of experienced callers, and for a typical public event for non-dancers the accent is very much on fun! All the callers are very good at encouraging people to get up and have a go.

"The Bowls' Club Barn Dance was a great success. We would have no hesitation in recommending The Footnotes to anyone who needed a group, they were very professional. The caller was good fun and soon had everyone dancing and laughing, Everyone hopes for a return event which I am sure we will organise in the future. All in all a brilliant evening." – Chris, April 2008

"We had a wonderful and memorable time with The Footnotes. They really were fabulous and even had the youngsters up and dancing all night." - Jill, May 2007

The Footnotes also play music while people are resting between dances, which is particularly appreciated at weddings and other functions where dancing is perhaps not the main activity. Their arrangements and harmonisations of folk dance tunes are always well received.

They can play, and if necessary arrange, special music for themed evenings such as Regency and Playford Costume Balls and German Evenings for town twinning organizations. They also specialise in Burns Night celebrations, under the name of Tony Trent and his Band, which adds extra musicians, all wearing matching tartan uniforms.
