Drawing inspiration from other black vocal ensembles such as Sweet Honey in the Rock, Mahalia Jackson and Take Six, Black Voices has forged its own personal dynamic interpretation of African and West Indian music, recreating it in a British-born perspective. Their mostly unaccompanied repertoire incorporates finely crafted arrangements of Gospel, Spirituals, Jazz and Blues music, using familiar melodies as well as performing their own original material. Sacred and secular songs compliment one another in programmes that are designed to energize, uplift, challenge and educate. Black Voices has hosted and presented its own a cappella series for Radio 2 and has performed on both radio and television in the UK and internationally. With a fanbase full of famous admirers, they choir has also performed for the late Princess Diana, Archbishop Carey and even the Pope, and so are the perfect choice to make your wedding truly memorable. Testimonials“I have never been moved so deeply as when I heard Black Voices in concert the other night. Their beautiful voices lifted everyone” “Black Voices reminded me that the most beautiful instrument is the human voice.”“I couldn’t believe that just voices could produce such a brilliant sound. When are you performing down in the Southwest again?” “Black Voices just keep getting better and better. I keep thinking that you can’t get any better but you do! Brilliant! Keep up the good work!” "To Black Voices, with the love of Jesus, I wish you Gods best, you are blessed and you're a blessing, thank you for being a part of my celebration” Gloria Gaynor |
