| Flute and harp duo |
Flautist David Sumbler and harpist Eira Lynn Jones had been performing together as principal orchestral players for several years before appearing as soloists in the Concerto for Flute and Harp by Mozart. The special rapport they established and the realisation that they had a similar approach to performance led them to form the Aeolian Duo in 1995.
Since then they have developed an imaginative repertoire, specializing in original compositions for flute and harp, but including also their own arrangements of well-known classics. Programmes are individually chosen for each occasion, and items are introduced in an informative and appealing way. This approach has led to their current popularity with music societies, and an ever-increasing number of evening concerts, lunchtime recitals and educational workshops.
