Paul has performed as a soloist with many of today’s leading conductors - Sir Simon Rattle, Richard Hickox, Serji Ozawa, Christopher Hogwood and Trevor Pinnock. CD recordings include the title role in Ken Robert’s opera ‘Mr.Butterfly’, Percy Grainger Part Songs with Richard Hickox, Mozart’s Requiem with the Chamber Orchestra of Europe and the Rachmaninov Vespers with Tenebrae.
In 2007 Paul performed the role of Michael De Haughton-Tours in a new musical comedy ‘A Perfect Picnic’, based on the operatic music of Mozart. He also recorded another album for Gregorian.
He gave a Masterclass at the Bermuda Festival, sang on a cruise from Singapore to India and performed Bach’s St Matthew Passion with the Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment conducted by Ivan Fischer and Rossini’s Italian Girl in Algiers with London Opera Productions.
In the summer he gave a performance of Finzi’s Dies Natalis at the Fishguard Festival and sang Elgar’s The Kingdom at the St David’s Festival. In the autumn Paul performed Kurt Weil’s ‘Die Todsunden’ with Ute Lemper in Dublin and Belfast and was busy with oratorio performances of Handel’s Messiah and Samson, Haydn’s Creation and Paukenmesse and Berlioz’s L’Enfance du Christ.
Plans for 2008 include the operas Il Barbieri di Siviglia and Madam Butterfly, performances of Bach’s Christmas Oratorio and Johannes Passion and the Requiems of Verdi and Mozart.
