Claire Seaton
Soprano

Claire was born in Staffordshire and studied at the Birmingham School of Music and later in London at the Royal Academy of Music with Kenneth Bowen. Her operatic roles include 'Countess' in 'Le Nozze di Figaro', 'Metella' in La Vie Parisienne and 'Ellen' in Peter Grimes. Claire made her Glyndebourne debut in 1999 singing the role of Vitellia in La Clemenza di Tito. In the 2000 Festival Claire understudied the role of Ellen in Brittens Peter Grimes and in 2001 she covered 'Countess' in Mozart's 'Le Nozze di Figaro' for Glyndebourne Festival and Tour. In Spring 2002 she will be covering Vitellia for Welsh National Opera. In November 1998 Claire was awarded the Wessex Glyndebourne Association Prize.

Claire has worked in opera and as an oratorio soloist all over Europe and in Singapore and Korea. Claire is currently studying with Linda Esther Gray

As a session singer Claire has sung all over Europe and as far afield as Korea with small ensemble groups such as the Tallis Scholars and the Gabrieli Consort. It was with the latter that Claire made her Proms debut in 1995 in Handel's Dixit Dominus. Claire also worked with the chorus of Opera de Lyon as an extra chorus member in both productions and recordings and spent the summer of 1992 in Aix en Provence in the Chorus of Don Giovanni and The Rakes Progress. Claire's solo recording credits include the part of the Believer in 'Bethlehem' (Rutland Boughton) for Hyperion and Allegri's Miserere for Regent Records.

Future engagements include Elgar The Kingdom in Arundel Cathedral, Haydn Creation in Chichester Cathedral, Mozart C Minor Mass in Norwich and a Purcell room concert in September 2002.
