Specimen Programme

Concert Royal

Jane Austen's Musical England

Songs and instrumental music, both from Jane Austen's collection and from contemporary sources, together with short readings from letters and novels provide a fascinating glimpse into Jane Austen's musical world.

Music for a Georgian Drawing Room

A popular programme recreating an evening of musical entertainment from the Georgian drawing room. Handel's fine music and Dr Arne's popular Shakespearean songs provide a familiar framework. But Concert Royal has a reputation for presenting unjustly neglected English music and each performance contains exciting rarities, unique to the ensemble's repertoire.

The Most Fam'd Masters

Guest artist Lesley Holliday (flute) joins Concert Royal in a presentation featuring music by the greatest of the Baroque masters. The programme includes obbligato arias, a trio sonata by JS Bach and songs and cantatas by Henry Purcell.

Children's Concert: Whistle Stop

Whistle Stop is an entertaining presentation in which Concert Royal's musicians share the simple pleasures of making music with their young audiences. Flutes, recorders and whistles, Shakespearean dances and children's songs. Suitable for 5 – 11 year olds.
