| Arianna Duo: | |
| Clare Bentley | - flute |
| Emma Granger | - harp |
Clare and Emma first met as they pursued their post-graduate studies at the Royal College of Music. They made their debut together at the British Embassy in Paris as part of a chamber ensemble, and subsequently went on to form the Arianna Duo.
Since then, the duo has played the length and breadth of the UK, entertaining audiences with their delightful performances and informal stage presence. In addition to well-known and familiar pieces, the duo explores a more diverse repertoire that includes works by Bax, Debussy, Rota and Alwyn.
The duo also expands with the addition of a viola to form The Poulenc Trio, to enable performances of the wonderful Debussy Trio as part of their programmes.
Recitals are always introduced by the performers to create an enjoyable atmosphere and to help build a close rapport with their audiences. This is a perfect choice for an entertaining evening of beautiful music.
The Arianna Duo is also available for performances of the Mozart Concerto for Flute & Harp.
Clare began her studies with James Dower at Trinity College of Music, where she won all the college woodwind competitions and the Gertrude Norman Prize. She then completed her studies at the Royal College of Music as a post-graduate.
At the Royal College of Music she studied with David Butt and became a member of the Beaufort Ensemble and formed the Arianna Duo with Emma Granger.
Since completing her studies, Clare has pursued a busy freelance career working with the English Ballet Orchestra, Royal Ballet Sinfonia, Bournemouth Sinfonietta and English Sinfonia as well as regular work in West End shows. She is principal flute with the Chameleon Arts Orchestra and she also teaches flute at various schools.
Emma was born in north-west Devon and began studying the harp at the age of eleven. Early experience was gained through reaching the semi-finals of the BBC 'Young Musician of the Year Competition' in 1984 and 1986, and as a member of the National Youth Orchestra of Great Britain.
Emma accepted a place at New College, Oxford where she received instrumental awards and completed her studies with a scholarship to the Royal College of Music. She received generous awards from both the Countess of Munster Music Trust and the Ian Fleming Charitable Trust, and has performed as a soloist for Music Societies throughout the UK under the auspices of the Countess of Munster Recital Scheme.
Emma is currently principal harpist with the Royal Ballet Sinfonia, a position she manages to combine with a busy freelance career of solo, chamber and orchestral work.
